How this site is made
Funding and independence
MAOWCE runs no ads and accepts no payment, sponsorship, or free product in exchange for coverage. The Support page is a voluntary way for readers to say thanks, and it changes nothing about what gets covered or how.
Sourcing standard
Every article is built on exactly 5 sources, read in full before writing starts. Primary material, filings, government data, research papers, is preferred over secondhand writeups, and at most 2 of the 5 may be someone else's reporting rather than a primary source. Every number in an article is traced back to the specific source it came from.
Handling disagreement
When sources disagree, the article says so and names both, rather than quietly averaging them or picking whichever sounds better.
Corrections
Mistakes get fixed, not buried. See the FAQ for how to flag one.
Charts and data
Every chart on the site is drawn directly from its cited data as real, readable markup, never a stock photo or a picture standing in for original reporting.
Who's behind this
MAOWCE is written and edited by one person, a college student, not a newsroom or a company. The About page has the full story.
